Diversity week

Residents and staff celebrating Diversity Week

Diversity Week (14-18 May) was an opportunity for us to celebrate the richness of our diversity.  Only the second time, Affinity Sutton has put on such an event, this year we went all out to engage staff and residents.

It was an opportunity to showcase different heritages through world food, dress, dance, African drumming, craft workshops for the children and henna tattooing to mention a few activities.

People of all ethnicities, ages and cultures got involved in Leicester, Birmingham, Leeds, Newcastle, Milton Keynes and Holmes Chapel in Cheshire.

The quizzes and competitions also meant that prizes were on offer and people felt that they were very welcome and could be themselves.

Sandra Sanglin, Diversity Manager said: "We set out to demonstrate that we mean what we say about being inclusive during Diversity Week, and we were far from disappointed in the result".

"The result far exceeded our expectations, with over 300 residents getting involved, many of whom had never engaged with us before."
