Community growing garden

Christine, Ian and Tom's Green Story...

Recycling revolution

The community group at Abbey Hulton turned a derelict piece of land into a community garden with wildlife area and community classroom facility.

It was part-funded by Affinity Sutton and Stoke City Council, plus a number of other partners.

The site is run entirely by volunteers from the local community and now grows organic fruit and vegetables for sale to the community.

It provides training for the Blackfriars Day Centre who work on the site each week, and a meeting venue for a number of community groups.
