New allotment planned for Saltersgill Estate

Residents of the Sutton Residents Association on the Saltersgill Estate are working with Middlesbrough Environment City to start growing their own food on a new allotment.

The allotment is planned for an area of unused land and a consultation held on 4 June to introduce the idea to local residents has recieved very positive feedback. One resident wrote “Good idea, should have been done a while back and could encourage children to take part”.

No experience is required and Middlesbrough Environment City have offered to provide free training to teach how to grow your own produce and maintain an allotment plot. If anyone is interested in a plot they can contact Neighbourhood Investment Officer, Jess Duggal on 0300 100 0303.
