Take a Seat at Miles Mitchell Village
The village at Miles Mitchell is specifically for residents over
55 years of age and has a very active social club at the heart of
it. The club is run by a committee with Lyn Musk as Chair, Elsie
Lapthorne as Treasurer and Den Musk as Secretary. They hold a
regular programme of events such as darts, bowls, coffee mornings
and a breakfast and lunch club with lots of helpers and volunteers
from the village. The events are always well attended by residents
but the organisers have found the chairs too heavy to move and have
been trying to get funding for new lightweight ones that they could
move about easily.
This was brought to the attention of our contractor Rogers
Construction and Maintenance by Neil Williams our senior surveyor
in the South West, and as a gesture of goodwill, Steve
Rogers Director at Rogers Construction donated a cheque
of £300 to enable them to purchase 24 new lightweight chairs.
An official handing over of the cheque event was held on 19th
July with a pasty lunch cooked by Peggy Harvey. This was well
attended by 42 residents and for those that could not attend due to
mobility problems, the lunch was delivered to them in their
homes.
