Sutton Trust Community Group expand their services

Sutton Trust Community Group have succesfully applied for funding from the Affinity Sutton Community Grants fund.

The charity operate in the Abbey Hulton area of Stoke on Trent where they manage the Betty Rushton Community Garden. This garden opened in 2008 and is regularly used by the local community for a range of activities including growing fruit and vegetables.

A small classroom within the garden is used by residents, schools, as a day centre for young adults with learning difficulties and evening venue hire. The group was awarded a £1,530 grant which has been used to equip the classroom with three laptops which now provide internet access to its users.

Affinity Sutton is also assisting the group to apply for planning permission to redevelop the current classroom to construct a larger building so that more people can take advantage of the facilities on offer.
