Affinity Sutton can trace its business for social purpose ethos back to 1900 when our founder, the Victorian Entrepreneur and philanthropist William Sutton, bequeathed his estate – the modern day equivalent of £200 million – to a charitable trust to provide ‘model dwellings and houses for occupation by the poor of London and other towns and populous places in England’.
Since this time we have evolved and grown through our house building programme and mergers/ acquisitions but our social purpose ethos remains as strong as ever as we invest in our communities and maximise life chances for our residents. This important and award winning part of our work is funded through a specially created Foundation - the Affinity Sutton Community Foundation. Set up with a £53 million endowment it provides a stable and sustainable source of funding. These monies are complemented by external funding from a range of organisations.
