Simplifying our organisation
Tell us what you think

We want a stronger and more efficient
organisation which is focussed on one set of priorities – the
things that matter most to you.
In order to provide this, we believe
that we need to simplify the structure of our group of housing
associations.
In 2009 we simplified the way the Group
operates by bringing together all of our staff and services into a
single structure. The next stage is to amalgamate the three
housing associations within the Affinity Sutton Group.
Although your tenancy agreement and terms
would remain unchanged, there would be one single landlord known as
Affinity Sutton Homes.
Currently Affinity Sutton provides services for
three housing associations: Broomleigh, Downland and William
Sutton.
We want to amalgamate into one
landlord - Affinity Sutton Homes.

What we want to change
Your landlord name
We’re proposing that Affinity Sutton Homes
becomes one combined landlord led by a single board. The legal term
for this is ‘amalgamation’.
Broomleigh, Downland and William Sutton Homes
would join together to become Affinity Sutton Homes and from that
date Affinity Sutton Homes would be your landlord.
The governance structure
At the moment, all three organisations have
their own boards. Instead of this there would be one board
for Affinity Sutton Homes. This board will have at least
three spaces for resident board members.
But it won't alter anything else...
- your tenancy conditions and rights would not
change
- it wouldn’t affect your rent or the
basis for future rent changes
- if you are a leaseholder, it wouldn’t affect
your lease
- local services would still be provided in
most areas by the people who provide them now
- we would keep existing contracts with our
partners
- Your statutory rights as tenants or leaseholders wouldn't
change.
The benefits
The aim of these changes is to:
- Continue to deliver a high quality and
consistent service to all residents.
- Provide a streamlined structure with less
bureaucracy and quicker decisions.
- Make cost savings which will mean we can
invest more money into improving your homes, neighbourhoods and
communities.
- Have a simple Board structure which enables
you to be more involved at a local level.
This proposal is supported by the Boards of Broomleigh,
Downland and William Sutton Homes – but we want to know what you
think.
We won’t make a decision until the boards of
the three associations (all of which include residents), have
considered your views from this consultation.
