Only fill the kettle up with the amount of water you need,
rather than right to the top...

Leaving your TV and all accessories attached to it on standby
all the time could cost you up to £30 per year. So switch off at
the button or plug and you could save.
Turn lights off as you leave a room - it could save you £7 a
year!
Heating your home...
Turning your thermostat down by one degree centigrade could
save you around £60 a year.
18-21 degrees C should a comfortable temperature for most homes.
The bedroom can be a littler cooler at around 17 degrees C.
Adjust the programmer time switch to a minimum, especially during
the night as people rarely require heating at night.
Drawing curtains early in the evening will save heat. But be
careful, curtains that hangover radiators will allow heat to escape
out of the window.
Also, fitting draught-proofing strips to windows and doors –
this could save you £25 a year.
On wash day...
Put your washing machine on only when you can fill it, and wash
at 30 degrees C (could save you £11 a year).
Your freezer
Defrost your freezer regularly and make sure it’s full – even
filling gaps with scrunched up newspaper will make it run more
efficiently.
