Flash Clean Up
Following the success of their photography exhibition in May
Flash have delivered their first ‘spin off’ project by holding a
‘St Budeaux Square Clean Up’ event.
The youngsters worked with partners such as Plymouth City
Council Wardens, Youth Workers and the Local Crime Prevention Team
to deliver a day of activities including bulb planting, graffiti
removal and litter picking.
They were joined on the day by staff from Affinity Sutton and
the other partner agencies and, once again, Deputy Housing
Minister, Alison Seabeck who all rolled their sleeves up and got
stuck in.
Local businesses supported in many ways, some by donating prizes
for a free prize draw for all volunteers and others such as Dominos
Pizza, Lees Plaice and Chips and Square Café by providing free
refreshments!
A number of Dominos staff also gave up their free time and
joined in with the clean up activities.
Flash negotiated with a number of agencies prior to the event
which saw repairs to damaged notice boards, deep clean of the
public toilets and, thanks to Plymouth Community Homes, the
services of contractor Seddons to repaint a poster drum!!
The day also saw Flash take part in the promotion of ‘Fearless’
with the local Crime Prevention Team and European Diving Champion
Brooke Graddon . Fearless is where young people can get
non-judgemental advice and information about crime.
The day was once again a great success and was true testament to
their slogan ‘‘we know we can do what we want to do; if we
work together, we can achieve’’
We look forward to their next venture!
