LGBT history month - enter our competition
Are you or a family member from the Lesbian, Gay, Bi-sexual and Transgender (LGBT) community? Then why not get involved in Affinity Sutton’s LGBT history month competition.
Out and About Task Team feedback from latest meeting:
- Announce partnership with Albert Kennedy Trust and Affinity Sutton’s donation of £500 to their new interact project which allows young LGBT people who are struggling with housing and other issues to talk to a volunteer virtually through the interact website.
- Recruit straight allies – we have agreed that this is something we really need to push for.
- Competition for LGBT history month – we are focusing on families/friends/allies of the LGBT community to submit a story for LGBT history month about their experiemces of family/friends coming out.
- Straight allies question those on the RI forum – Is there something we could put on the forum around straight allies?
AKT's mission is:
"To ensure that all lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans young people are able to live in accepting, supportive and caring homes, by providing a range of services to meet the individual needs of those who would otherwise be homeless or living in a hostile environment."
"We're here to let all lesbian, gay, bi and trans people, here and abroad, know they're not alone.
We believe we're stronger united, so we partner with organisations that help us create real change for the better. We have laid deep foundations across Britain - in some of our greatest institutions - so our communities can continue to find ways to flourish, and individuals can reach their full potential. We’re here to support those who can’t yet be themselves.
But our work is not finished yet. Not until everyone feels free to be who they are, wherever they are."
