We’re currently carrying out electrical testing to a large number of homes to ensure the electrics in your home are safe for you to use, and meet the current standards. This is a health & safety requirement. If we or our contractor contact you about this it’s important that you allow access for the test to be carried out – the test doesn’t take long. If we don’t contact you, you don’t need a test, and you don’t need to do anything further.
We’ll make several attempts by letter / phone to arrange a convenient time with you to carry out the test. But if we’re unable to arrange this directly with you we’re now referring non-access cases to our housing management teams. If they’re unsuccessful in arranging access with you they’ll apply to the court for an injunction.
Whilst court action is always the last resort, we’ve successfully obtained several court injunctions to gain access to residents’ homes to carry out electrical tests and any necessary repairs or upgrades. Residents could incur court costs in excess of £300.
Please help us to ensure your home remains a safe place to live for you, your family, and your neighbours.
