Company directors’ DIY sos makeover
Fifteen senior managers will leave their desks behind to
get their hands dirty and give a rundown community portacabin
a £10,000 makeover in just 24 hours.
Three teams of company directors from
affordable housing provider Affinity Sutton and their partner
contractors Apollo, FHM Limited, Connaught and 4isolutions will
roll up their suit sleeves on Tuesday 16 March to give the tired
looking St Quintin Park portacabin, in North Kensington, a
much-needed revamp.
The directors will pick up their paint brushes
and rollers at 9.30am repainting the hall and its bathroom, fitting
new curtains and electric fans and residents will also receive a
new television and microwave for use in the centre.
Residents will also be encouraged to come and
cheer the directors on at special fun day and take advantage of
specialist housing and health advice which will also be on
offer.
Nick Dudman, Group Asset Management Director
for Affinity Sutton, said: “This project is all about
teamwork and is a brilliant opportunity for us to give something
back to our community. St Quintin Park community hall is at
the heart of its community and is very well-used by residents. We
are delighted residents voted for it to be given a facelift and
that we have the opportunity to make it look fresh and vibrant.
“
Sixty-four year-old Dot Mundee, who has lived
on the estate for seven years and attends bingo at the hall,
said: “I think the makeover is brilliant. The community
hall is very well used by residents and the wider community and it
will be fantastic to see it get a spruce up.”
St Quintins, beat off competition from
across the country to scoop the makeover in a special online
competition called Dir-ecorate organised by landlord Affinity
Sutton – winning the contest in a vote open to all residents
through the ‘Dir-ecorate Den’ by well over 300 votes.
