Kiss goodbye to loan sharks
Kiss goodbye to loan sharks in February -
sign-up for a credit union account
RESIDENTS living in Doxey, Staffordshire, can take
advantage of free financial advice at a special fun day to improve
their health and wealth.
Affordable housing provider, Affinity Sutton, is holding the
Healthy Wealthy Doxey event at the Affinity Sutton Community Room,
Sutton Drive, Doxey, Stafford, on Tuesday 16 February from 1pm -
3pm.
In partnership with Staffordshire Credit Union
the first 20 adult visitors to open a credit union account will
receive a £10 deposit in their account.
Rachel Price, Neighbourhood Housing Manager
for Affinity Sutton, said: “In the recession more and more
families may be looking to find extra money and might be tempted by
doorstep lenders.
“By opening an account with a credit union
they could benefit from interest rates of 26.8% which means if they
borrowed £300 over 12 months they would only pay back
£341.41.”
Along with help and advice the Healthy,
Wealthy and Wise event will also have a World Cup table football,
Nintendo Wii room, a quiz, fancy dress competition, penalty shoot
out, raffle and healthy give-aways and other agencies taking part
include Midland Heart Housing Association, Stafford Borough
Council, Stafford Children’s Centre, Stafford College,
Staffordshire Police, Youth Services, Staffordshire Credit Union,
Doxey Community Association, Stafford Fire Service, Addaction and
Adsis.
