Sixty three new homes on school site
£10M new affordable homes for former school site
The Mayor of Bracknell Forest
Councillor Chris Turrell is set to officially open a new £10M
housing development on a site previously part of Brakenhale
School.
A total of 63 homes have been built at the
site at Rectory Lane which will provide a mix of one and two
bedroom apartments and three and four bedroom family homes.
All of the homes will be let at either social or affordable
rent.
The scheme was built to the Government’s Code
for Sustainable Homes Level three and 46 of the homes on site will
have their heating and hot water powered by
environmentally-friendly air source heat pumps.
National affordable housing provider Affinity
Sutton, which has around 136 homes in Bracknell Forest, teamed up
with Berkeley Homes, Bracknell Forest Borough Council and the
Government’s Homes and Communities Agency to build the
scheme. The development received more than £7M in Government
housing grant.
Affinity Sutton’s other developments in
Bracknell Forest include The Parks, Jennetts Park, Mount Lane and
Wykery Copse.
Joyce Ferguson, Regional Development Director
for Affinity Sutton, said: “As a business for social purpose
Affinity Sutton is committed to helping people put down roots and
creating places for communities to thrive. We are
delighted to be celebrating the opening of Chadwick Mews with the
Mayor and Mayoress and very grateful to our partners for working
with us to help us deliver these much-needed affordable new homes.”
Mayor Chris Turrell said: “I look
forward to opening this development and to seeing the
environmentally-friendly features built into it.”
