Bright Ideas video diary

Cindy JacksonCindy Jackson, 18, is an Affinity Sutton resident in Halton,Leeds.  Here she tells us why she is filming a documentary about gender dysphoria.

When I moved into this estate six years ago with my mum, brother and sister, I never thought it would be possible to drink and socialise with the people who live here but they have welcomed me with open arms.

Since starting the project I have found out a lot of things about myself and other people.  I have found that I can confront people by asking them questions and interviewing them and I have found that I can manage my budget without spending it.  I have also found that people's perceptions weren't always what I thought they would be.  People have been kind and welcoming.

I have also found that the issue really needs to be raised and hope that it helps other people in the same situation.
